Jim Bowersox is Vice President, Land Acquisitions & Development at Lennar Atlanta, a division of Lennar (NYSE:LEN), the second largest homebuilding company in the USA. Mr. Bowersox secures land positions, directs contract negotiations, entitlements, zonings and overall development of lots and land.
A Tennessee native, Mr. Bowersox completed his degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville before joining the US Air Force. He retired from the US Air Force Reserve in 2000 after completing 32 years of active and reserve service, including the activation of his US Air Force Reserve Squadron for 13 months in 1990-1991 during the Gulf War.
Throughout his career in land acquisitions and development, Mr. Bowersox has developed more than 12,000 residential housing lots to date, mainly throughout the Southeast. He started his career with Reynolds, Smith & Hills (RS&H) in 1979 and joined Gulfstream Development of Georgia in 1987.
Before joining Lennar Atlanta in 2012, Mr. Bowersox was owner and president of Bowersox Development, Inc. for ten years and has held a variety of senior level positions with renowned building companies, including Millennium Three, DR Horton, Venture Homes and Beazer Homes.
A member of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors, Mr. Bowersox actively mentors his employees who also wish to build a career in this “…stressful, competitive and thrilling business.”
Drawing on his technical background, extensive expertise and years of experience, Mr. Bowersox especially enjoys taking on large, complex projects, especially raw land deals, and “…making it work.” As he says, “Being part of the development of a large, new community from scratch is truly rewarding.”
To relax, Mr. Bowersox likes to ski, boat and play golf. He and his wife enjoy their three children and three grandchildren.
