John R. Billups, VP Finance & Operations / Controller of Lennar Atlanta, joined Lennar (NYSE:LEN) at the national homebuilder’s SW Florida Division in 2007, and in 2010 was tapped to help start up the new Lennar Atlanta division when it opened in Georgia. Recognized throughout the homebuilding industry for his hands-on, detail and deadline-oriented management style, Mr. Billups “…actually enjoys the pressures and complexities of this current function.”
After obtaining his MBA with a Specialization in Finance from the University of Baltimore in 2002, Mr. Billups joined Whitehaven Construction in Maryland as Field Supervisor. He transitioned from this position with a small family-owned business to Assistant Controller of Toll Brothers, a top 10 national homebuilder, and from there continued to serve as Accounting/Finance Department Head for various companies that earned $250+ million in annual revenues and held over $200 million in assets.
Throughout his career, Mr. Billups built a strong working knowledge of standard accounting practices and acquired extensive experience with business plans, strategic management decisions, and large land acquisitions.
As Lennar Atlanta’s VP Finance & Operations/Controller, Mr. Billups performs the month, quarter and year-end close; completes and updates the division’s annual Business Plan and Quarterly Projections; performs all financial analyses for land acquisitions; and is responsible for division Cost Control processes, among other responsibilities.
Mr. Billups, his wife and their three young children live in Alpharetta.
