When Jennifer and Bill Ziliak moved into their spacious five-bedroom home in Fieldstone Preserve in May it was a homecoming in more ways than one.
The Ziliaks—Jennifer is a paralegal and Bill is a firefighter—had lived in Fieldstone for several years starting in 2006. But with the addition of two daughters they outgrew their home. In 2012 they began the process of building in a nearby neighborhood that seemed to be offering what they were looking for.
“We worked with a builder we thought was reputable and got as far as selecting floors and cabinetry,” recalls Bill. About six months into the project the builder came to the Ziliaks with bad news. Despite what they had been told, the home could not be built on the lot they had purchased. The deal fell through. “It was a nightmare,” Bill recalls.
Frustrated and disappointed, the Ziliaks stopped looking for about a year. In 2013 they ventured out again. That’s when they discovered Fieldstone Preserve. Says Bill, “I met a wonderful Lennar agent who showed me this new, very private section of the community on a Friday afternoon.”
Jennifer rushed over after work to see what her husband was so excited about. She loved it as well and they began designing their affordable dream home using the Magnolia floor plan. Building with Lennar was painless—a stark contrast to the hassle and confusion at the other neighborhood.
To say they found everything they were looking for at Fieldstone Preserve is to understate. The home—three sides brick with beautiful detailing—offers more than 4,000 square feet of open living space, an in-law suite plus loads of room for the girls to play. Most important, the children will attend highly rated Kelly Mill Elementary School, part of the West Forsyth High School cluster.
And then there are the awesome amenities. The Ziliaks take full advantage of the pool, ponds, tennis courts and playground and the opportunities for connecting with other families.
Comfortably settled in their new Lennar home, Bill reflects on the path that led to Fieldstone Preserve. “I guess it was fate—we got so burned by the other neighborhood, and then ended up back here where we really wanted to be. It’s amazing how it all worked out.”

When Craig and April Hoffmann decided to build the perfect home for their young family, they were cautioned by friends and relatives not to add yet another element of stress to their lives. The couple had just welcomed their third daughter and Craig had recently started a new job.
They knew that selling the house they were in and building a new one would be a challenge, but instead of the difficult experience they were anticipating, they have found that the process of building their Lennar Atlanta dream home in Fieldstone Preserve in Cumming was “… a delight.”
“We took a very deliberate approach to the entire process,” explains Craig. “We studied a lot of different floor plans and options and spent quite a bit of time interviewing various builders in the greater Atlanta area. We also looked at the various school systems, and the amenities and social aspects of each community where we could be raising our family.”
The Hoffmanns decided on Lennar Atlanta’s Magnolia model with an unfinished basement. It has the right lay-out, including a large open kitchen (with a sit down counter that is perfect for doing homework) that connects to a spacious first-floor common area where the whole family can share lots of time together.
The school district and the actual neighborhood where their new home is located were also major factors in the decision making process. “The amenities at Fieldstone Preserve are outstanding. We really appreciate the fact that there is a kid-friendly tennis program, the Tennis Academy, and a great pool. My wife and I look forward to sharing our love for tennis with our girls.”
Building their first home has been a happy, positive experience. “From before we broke ground to our weekly update calls from our personal builder(s), we have been continually amazed at the level of personal, professional and friendly interactions we have had with each member of our Lennar Team. Our property agents, Pat and Marty, and especially our builders, Chris and Rick, are engaged and passionate professionals and have delivered on every single detail they said from the beginning of our experience with Lennar Atlanta.”
Even though the closing on their beautiful new home will not be until the end of August, the family has made a real effort to participate in a number of neighborhood activities and events already during the past months. When the new school year started up recently, the Hoffmanns met more than 20 other Fieldstone Preserve families at the school bus stop to see their two oldest daughters off to the first day at their new school in Forsyth County.
“This will be our family’s home for at least the next 15 years,” expects Craig. “This is where we will sit down together for dinner every night, and share great times with new neighbors and friends.”
